According to an article in Monday's Marin Independent Journal, the California Highway Patrol responded to five suspected driving under the influence (DUI) collisions in the Marin County area over two days.
The most serious collision occurred in San Rafael. Joshua Fowler is alleged to have sideswiped another car on Highway 101. When the other driver started taking pictures of the damage, Mr. Fowler allegedly tried to push him into traffic. Mr. Fowler was charged with assault, battery, assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor DUI.
It is likely that the Northern Bay Area CHP will be on heightened alert for DUI drivers over the next few weeks. Obviously, take extra precautions when driving in those areas. I will keep on eye out on press releases, and post on this blog any information regarding increased DUI enforcement I find.
