Several Bay Area cities and counties have reported that they plan heightened driving under the influence (DUI) enforcement operations over Memorial Day Weekend.
In San Mateo County, there will be a DUI checkpoint in San Carlos on Friday night. On Saturday night, there will be a DUI checkpoint Redwood City. On Sunday, there will be a DUI checkpoint in Pacifica. The exact locations of the DUI checkpoints have not been disclosed. The cities of San Mateo, Atherton, and Hillsborough all report that they will have DUI saturation patrols over the weekend.
In Solano County, a press release from the Vallejo Police Department claims that there will be checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols. It fails to say what cities the checkpoints will be in. The DUI saturation patrols will be in Vacaville.
In Sonoma County, there will be a DUI sobriety checkpoint at an “undisclosed” location in Santa Rosa. It will most likely be on a major thoroughfare, near drinking establishments. It will be up Saturday night, from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
In Marin County, there will be a DUI checkpoint in the city of Novato on Friday night. The press release does not say exactly where or when it will be.
In Alameda County, there will be a sobriety checkpoint in Fremont on Friday, May 25. There will also be extra DUI patrols by BART, Berkeley, Dublin, Fremont, Oakland, Piedmont, and Pleasanton.
In San Francisco, there will be a DUI sobriety checkpoint this weekend located at San Jose and Randall Avenues. According to the press release, t will be on Monday night, starting at 8:30 p.m. However, I think that this might be a typo, since it doesn’t make much sense to set up a checkpoint on a work night. I would be very careful driving through that intersection any day this weekend.
