According to a press release issued by the San Francisco “Avoid the 8” anti-DUI campaign, there will be a driving under the influence (DUI) sobriety checkpoint set up in The City this weekend.  The checkpoint is in response to the probability that more people will be out drinking to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
The checkpoint will be on Cesar Chavez (Army) Street at South Van Ness Avenue, in the Mission District.  It will be set up from Saturday, May 5 at 8:30 p.m. until “early Sunday”.
If you have plans to celebrate the Mexican holiday please take precautions to ensure you don’t get arrested for DUI.  As they do with most major holidays, AAA will offer their free “Tipsy Tow” program.  Just call 1-800-AAA-HELP (800-222-4357), and tell the operator that you need a tipsy tow.  They will dispatch a tow truck to tow your car free of charge up to five miles.  You don’t even have to be a AAA member.
Be safe, and enjoy Cinco de Mayo!
